• Ares is The God of War, Son of Zeus and Hera, the king and queen of the gods. Hercules is his half-brother whom he despises. Ares has many goals, all centered around himself and the propagation of war throughout Greece. He never hides the fact that in the end, he is out for himself only. Once he abandoned his fellow Gods and sided with the Demon Dahak in order to save his own life. He is Known throughout Greece as one of the gods you fear. He is powerful, and swift and no one stands in his way. He thrives on bloodshed and battle. He is a fierce fighter and powerful warrior but even Gods have their weaknesses and his is Xena. Ares once stood as the proud mentor to Xena. He had taken interest in her abilities and took her on as the leader and champion of his vast army. This union was his greatest achievement until Xena turned good and left him. At first Ares used his godly powers to lead several campaigns against Xena, all designed to trick her into coming back to him. When they failed he decided to let things play out as they were but he has never given up on trying to win her back. Over the years he has gotten to know the new Xena and although he is reluctant to admit it, he has fallen in love with the new Warrior Princess. To him, she is his equal, his soul mate and there is little he would do to get her back in his arms. As The God of War he has made it his business to be involved in the affairs of mortals but he has very little respect for them and only sees mortals as his pawns, play things to use and dispose.

    Why do I love Ares and the Xena television series so much? Well, it's like this: I really never got to watch Xena when the series first started, so I never knew for sure if it was good or bad. I actually watched one of the episodes starting the 5th season. It was an episode with Ares and he caught my eye immediately! :) I was glued to the t.v. as a matter of fact his character was so awesome. After watching that one episode I came to the conclusion that this was really a good television show and I wanted more! As I continued to tune in weekly, I found myself hoping Ares and Xena would get together, but the cat and mouse chase was fun to watch too... heh heh. I also found myself tuning into the older episodes that were airing late in the afternoon on the SciFi channel so I could find out what had all happened prior to me tuning in at the start of the 5th season. I was hooked and taping the old episodes as well as the new weekly episodes. I have never taped a television show nor have I been so into one! Something about this series struck a chord with me.
